The official opening of The Shires at Oakham took place on Thursday 23rd June.
The day began with a meet and greet followed by speeches from Marina Gough, Director of Care and Education and the High Sheriff of Rutland, Dr Sarah Furness.
Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr Laurence Howard carried out the cutting of the ribbon to announce The Shires at Oakham officially open!
Guests were then treated to a tour of the house followed by lunch.
The Shires at Oakham is both a children’s home and a school for 8 young people with autism. Additionally the children may have learning difficulties, challenging behaviour and other conditions such as ADHD, epilepsy and dyspraxia.
